Regulatory Affairs & Certification Engineer

ERC-System OfficeOn-siteFull-time

AI Summary

Represents the company in European UAS standardisation bodies and industry associations, drafting certification specifications and building positions for regulatory submissions.

About this role

ABOUT THE ROLE

ERC System develops uncrewed aircraft for certified operation, in a regulatory landscape that is still being written. This role is our presence in the standardisation bodies and industry associations where that landscape takes shape — EUROCAE, GAMA, UAVDACH and BDLI among them — in the working groups drafting the certification specifications, AMC, MOC and supporting standards our aircraft will be measured against.

You bring our position into those rooms while the text is still open, and you bring back what it means for us. Inside the company you turn the evolving framework into the certification basis our programmes build against, take part in the exchange with the certification authorities, and support the airworthiness team on compliance work.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

● Represent ERC in the associations and standardisation bodies shaping UAS certification standards

● Work inside the drafting groups: comment on drafts, defend positions and follow them through the process

● Track rulemaking and standardisation, and assess early what they mean for our approval route

● Build ERC positions on draft material with engineering, and turn them into written contributions

● Derive and maintain the certification basis for our programmes

● Take part in the exchange with the certification authorities and prepare the input that goes with it

● Support airworthiness on means of compliance and evidence, and flag external changes early

WHAT YOU BRING

● Deep, hands-on experience in aviation certification, gained in aircraft or UAS programmes

● Command of the European UAS regulatory system and the derivation of a certification basis

● Experience working in industry associations, standardisation bodies or rulemaking groups

● Comfort in committee settings, where influence comes from preparation rather than authority

● Enough engineering depth to support means of compliance, not only the regulatory argument

● A technical degree in aerospace engineering or a comparable field

● Fluent English, and German at working proficiency for committee and authority work

Moreover, it would be helpful if you also

● have worked in an SC Light-UAS or Design Verification Report context

● bring EASA Compliance Verification Engineer experience

● know the military side too, such as STANAG 4671

● bring an existing network in the European UAS standardisation and association landscape

● bring experience with ARP4754B and ARP4761A

WHAT WEC OFFER

● Full-scale aerospace engineering, not concept slides

● A 60+ engineer team at Ottobrunn

● Real ownership and flat hierarchies: a modern startup culture where your input shapes decisions, not just execution

● Flexible working hours, remote work, and competitive compensation

● Health & wellbeing: EGYM Wellpass membership and subsidized lunch in our canteen

● Office extras: espresso coffee, fresh fruit, and soft drinks, plus regular team and company events, and plenty more once you're on board
