Research Engineer I (Trust Technologies)

Nanyang Technological University’s National Centre for Research in Digital Trust (DTC) is a Trust Technology Research Centre to execute a national program to help put Singapore into a strong trust hub. The key objective is to support efforts to create a trusted digital environment for its people and businesses by providing businesses and consumers with greater assurance and confidence as they digitalize.

We are looking for Research Engineers to design and develop secure web applications and platforms in Trust Technology and related areas such as privacy, security, and digital payments. The roles will focus on full-stack web development, secure authentication and authorisation, and the implementation of user workflows and payment-related protocols to support trusted digital transactions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop secure full-stack web applications using JavaScript, Node.js, and related frameworks.
• Implement authentication, authorisation, and security mechanisms, including JWT, OAuth, and relevant cryptographic protocols.
• Develop end-to-end user workflows, including registration, onboarding, and payment-related processes.
• Integrate APIs, payment services, and emerging payment protocols to support secure digital transactions.

• Work with researchers and industry partners on system development, UI design, testing, and deployment.

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related fields.
• Proficiency in JavaScript, Node.js, and frontend and backend web development.
• Good understanding of authentication, authorisation, JWT, OAuth, and web application security.
• Experience in API development, database integration, and implementing end-to-end user workflows.
• Knowledge of payment rails, merchant payment processing, or emerging protocols such as A2P and Verified Intent is advantageous.
• Good problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
