About this role
Your mission
- You will be a member of our interdisciplinary teams alongside colleagues from project management, protein production, structural biology, medicinal and computational chemistry.
- You will be responsible for providing approaches to challenging basic research questions by developing biochemical binding and functional assays in microplate format as well as biophysical assay formats for multi-membered biological systems.
- You will proactively contribute to defining research goals and experimental strategies with the goal of understanding biological mechanisms and to identify intervention points in the disease pathways.
- You will summarize your research results in recurring reports (quarterly and at project completion) and efficiently present the data in customer meetings and conferences.
- You will work within our state-of-the-art biochemistry and biophysics platform, instructing lab staff, performing experiments and analyzing data.
Your profile
- You have a PhD degree in biochemistry, biology or comparable discipline
- You have advanced experience in enzymology and biochemical technologies such as TR-FRET, AlphaLisa, luminescence, FI, FP, FRET/BRET. Experience with biophysical technologies like nanoDSF, TSA, MST, ITC or SPR will be a plus.
- Your track record demonstrates long-term, in-depth engagement in research contributing to the understanding of complex biological systems (e.g. DNA mismatch repair; mode of assembly of multiprotein complexes including sequence of events).
- You have 3+ years of relevant work experience and basic knowledge of the drug discovery process from screen to lead.
- You are able to plan experiments, generate and analyze biochemical/ biophysical data and report to internal project teams and external stakeholders.
- You are experienced in discussing data from neighboring disciplines and in adjusting experimental approaches for integrating new findings.
- Your positive, communicative and open personality helps you to understand other opinions and contributes to productive project discussions with internal and customer project teams.
- Fluent English and basic German language skills are required.
