Program Description: Drexel House is an 86-unit Permanent Supportive Housing program and a 16-bed emergency shelter program that operates using Housing First principles. The program has Resident Coordinators on-site 24 hours a day, 7 days and week, 365 days a year, supervised by the Program Manager, as well as multiple Housing Stability Case Managers who provide supportive services to all residents and clients. This position partners with Housing Stability Case Managers, Resident Coordinators, and Property Management staff to ensure that residents’ housing stability, health, and safety needs are met in a timely manner and that campus safety is maintained.

Position Description: The Resident Services and Support Coordinator works at the front desk and serves as the first point of contact for clients with questions or needs. The position monitors the facility and its entrances to ensure that only authorized clients and guests are admitted. The Resident Coordinator/Case Aide maintains a clean, welcoming, and safe entrance; builds supportive relationships with clients; and works with Case Managers to deliver services. Duties may include assisting with intake screenings, service plans, established goals, resource referrals, crisis intervention, and de-escalation. This position reports directly to the Program Manager.

Responsibilities

Resident Coordinator Position Responsibilities:

Cover the front desk to include answering the phone, authorizing access to clients and guests, and monitoring the security of both buildings.

Monitor and assure adherence to program policies related to residents, clients, and visitors.

Conduct safety & perimeter checks of all entrances, exits, and the entire property grounds.

Visually and aurally monitor shelter bunkhouse and bathrooms to maintain safety and security of residents and premises when appropriate.

Notifies appropriate personnel of unit and facility issues such as faulty appliances, reports of plumbing, heating issues or similar.

Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support with clients as necessary.

Record significant occurrences related to residents professionally in the logbook.

Communicates and enforces program rules and policies.

Log in /out residents, clients and visitors.

Interacts with residents and guests respectfully according to ccs values and beliefs.

Maintain nightly bed list for the emergency shelter.

Ensures an atmosphere conducive to restful nights by maintaining program quiet hours.

Provide wake up calls to guests as requested.

Ensure all clients are provided with adequate bedding.

Laundering sheets, towels, pillowcases and blankets.

Monitor the return of all towels, blankets and other Drexel House property issued to clients.

Ensure residents are completing daily chores.

Provide residents with information services and community resource information lists.

Deliver messages and packages to residents.

Contact residents to provide appointment reminders, important information, notifications, post notices and complete surveys.

Work with and support volunteer staff and interns.

Responsible for providing back-up if shift staffing levels require.

Support Coordinator Position Responsibilities:

Works closely with Case Managers and supports tasks associated with scheduling intake screenings, service plans, support established goals, resource referrals, crisis intervention, and de-escalation.

In collaboration with the Case Manager assures excellent and complete client files. Assist with maintaining compliance with program guidelines and documentation for each client record. 3. Ensure that appropriate paperwork is collected, filed, copied and forwarded to appropriate parties.

Assist in the preparation of statistical reports that are required for auditing purposes.

Serve as an advocate and liaison between the client, housing authorities and social service agencies.

Coordinate with Supportive Housing staff and other appropriate community partners in filling requests for services.

Schedule client appointments with Case Managers as well as external service providers. Remind clients of appointments and follow up as needed.

Input data into HMIS in a timely manner as necessary.

9.Responsible for coordinating transportation needs for residents to appointments in collaboration with Case Managers.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or G.E.D.

Experience in social service and understanding of homeless populations.

Work history, which demonstrates reliability and dependability.

Applicant must successfully pass required criminal background checks upon contingent offer of employment.

Ability to work effectively with clients displaying a wide range of disruptive behaviors.

Ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse populations.

Ability to make sound judgment in accordance with established program policies and procedures.

Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and automobile insurance.

Proof of negative TB test within past 12 months.

Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

Preferred Qualifications

Certified in Peer Counseling.
