The role of the Respiratory Therapist is to work with a patient. This position helps patients manage their pulmonary disease in a more effective and efficient manner to improve quality of everyday living.

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND RESPONSIBILITIESinclude the following; other duties may be assigned.

  • Respiratory Therapist are to:
  • Maintains an understanding of the subject matter as set forth during orientation and training.
  • Monitors patient’s physiological responses to therapy and testing procedures through patient vital signs and physiological signs and symptoms.
  • Respiratory Therapist must maintain a level of knowledge to interact with and retrieve chart information through an electronic medical records system
  • Demonstrates knowledge and confidence in subject matter related to the CROM (Comprehensive Respiratory Outcome Management) program and disease management, including but not limited to:
  • Disease education for chronic respiratory conditions
  • Medication adherence
  • Pulmonary rehabilitation
  • Nutrition and general wellness
  • Respiratory device usage (CPAP, BIPAP, etc.)
  • Ability to educate patients, caregivers and other healthcare professionals (for in services or as needed)
  • Demonstrates respiratory care procedures to trainees and other health care personnel.
  • Self-driven and accountable to provide great patient care and attention to detail.
