ERG is seeking a Safety Specialist to support occupational safety and health programs. The Safety Specialist will assist clients in maintaining safe workplaces through regulatory compliance, safety program implementation, inspections, training, and technical support. This position requires a strong understanding of workplace safety regulations, excellent technical writing abilities, and the ability to communicate effectively with project teams, clients, and stakeholders. This is a full-time onsite position at a federal government agency in Washington, D.C.
Job Description:
Help develop, implement, and maintain occupational safety and health programs
Conduct safety inspections, assessments, and evaluations of industrial, construction, laboratory, and office environments
Evaluate workplace conditions and identify potential hazards, recommending corrective actions and risk mitigation measures
Develop technical reports, safety documentation, training materials, and outreach communications with minimal editing requirements
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to support safe work practices and regulatory compliance across projects
Required Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Physical Sciences, or a related field
3 to 5 years of professional experience in occupational safety, environmental health and safety
Working knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT requirements, NFPA codes, and other workplace safety standards
Strong technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Experience preparing reports, training materials, and safety documentation.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
Professional certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) is preferred, but not required
Must currently hold or maintain a Department of Defense security clearance of Top SECRET
Must be a U.S. citizen as this position is not eligible for Limited Access Authorizations
