About this role

Redwood Credit Union is looking for an SBA/Commercial Portfolio Specialist, who will prepare SBA and commercial annual portfolio analysis in accordance with the Credit Union’s underwriting guidelines and influences the quality of credit through adherence to same. This classification requires overall knowledge of the loan requirements for SBA and commercial lending, with a demonstrated ability to perform research activities and loan portfolio analyses. Drafts annual reviews including analysis of financial and other information, and presentation in a concise and accurate written form as prescribed by Credit Union. Additionally, this position will assist with the administration of the loan portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
• Analyzes ongoing credit worthiness, including annual review of tax returns, financial statements, credit reports, and other relevant information.
• Prepares draft annual review and spreadsheets.
• Ensures all loan covenants and regulatory requirements are being upheld.
• Ensures compliance with pertinent government rules and regulations.
• Must be able to thoroughly analyze and make risk rating recommendations for simple and complex SBA and commercial real estate credits on an independent basis and demonstrate solid decision-making abilities.
• Identifies and evaluates portfolio risk.
• Maintains a complete understanding of RCU credit policy and SBA eligibility requirements under the SBA 7(a) and 504 guaranteed loan programs, with ability to assist others with related questions and research independently for unknowns.
• Assists with the administration of the loan portfolio by maintaining the annual review log and contacting Members to request financial information or documentation.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Highly developed analytical skills for making sound credit decisions.
• Provide exceptional service to all Members, volunteers, internal employees and service providers.
• Answer Member questions as they relate to Business Service deposits and loans.

Minimum Qualification: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Current knowledge of all laws, rules and regulations pertaining to business/SBA lending and compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively under deadlines and stress.
  • Ability to manage time effectively.
  • Knowledge of financial institution business services including lending methods and services.
  • Knowledge of asset, liabilities, credit dynamics in a business services lending environment.
  • Skill in the operation of a personal computer and word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software and Intra/Internet access.
  • Analytical skills in credit administration.
  • Ability to analyze problems and opportunities, identify and evaluate alternatives, and develop sound, effective approaches.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within commercial lending.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of people, including vendors and other Credit Union employees.
  • Ability to act independently and confidentially, using discretion and tact.
  • Ability and desire to work in a team environment.
