About the Role:

The Scale Operator position is responsible for assisting scale house administrative functions. This individual will be operating the scale system. The role requires a detail-oriented and adaptable professional who can maintain accuracy and focus in a fast-paced recycling processing plant.

Shift: Mon -Fri 7AM-5:30PM, Saturday 7AM-3PM (Occasional - Rotates) | Location: Sarasota, FL

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Operate scale house computers to obtain weight information for incoming recycle haulers and outbound shipments.
• Compare scale tickets and bills of lading to verify accuracy of shipment contents and weights
• Operates traffic control devices to allow vehicles to proceed to tipping area and exit from facility
• Issues receipts to vehicle driver and collects tickets
• Maintain accurate overall record keeping for reporting and analysis
• Use of radio communications with worksite operators
• Communicating with haulers and truck drivers
• Communicating with Supervisors and Peers, providing information to supervisors and co-workers by telephone, written form, and email and in person.
• Performing day to day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork.
• Maintain, monitor, and clean work areas, counters, windows and area around scale office
• Follows company safety policies and procedures to prevent injuries and accidents

REQUIRED SKILLS & ABILITIES

• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus
• Use computers to enter data and process information
• Detail oriented in obtaining, documenting and recording information from all relevant sources
• Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast paced environment
• Ability to work well in a noisy environment
• Organized and punctual
• A positive attitude is essential
• Interact with truck drivers, haulers, vendors, customers in a friendly and professional manner
