Position Summary:


Reporting to the COO, the Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager will own the day-to-day accounting function and ensure accurate, timely financial reporting for a fast-growing e-commerce and CPG business.


This is a hands-on operational accounting role. The successful candidate will be responsible for month-end close, cash flow reporting, bank and credit card reconciliations, inventory reconciliation, AP/AR oversight, coordination with external payroll, CRA communication, and support for auditors, external accountants, and diligence-related financial requests.


The ideal candidate has strong full-cycle accounting experience, excellent attention to detail, strong Excel skills, and the ability to keep financial operations moving in a fast-paced environment with limited handholding.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities (if this list looks exciting to you, click Apply Now):


  • Managing the company’s day to day financials including the AR/AP Clerk.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, reports, and analyses in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.
  • Preparing variance analyses (actual vs. budget) and coordinating investigation and resolution into discrepancies with appropriate department managers
  • Monitoring cash flow, financial performance, and key performance indicators, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
  • Creating budgets and forecasts.
  • Implementing and maintaining internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Support external accountants, auditors, and diligence-related financial requests by maintaining clean schedules, reconciliations, and supporting documentation.”
  • Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring adherence to tax laws and regulations.
  • Monthly entry of bank accounts & CC transactions.
  • Monthly reconciliation of bank accounts, CCs and LoC.
  • Perform accurate and detailed quarterly inventory reconciliations.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
  • Professional accounting designation such as a CPA is required.
  • 4+ years of accounting experience, including financial reporting, modeling, and analysis.
  • Hands-on NetSuite experience strongly preferred. Experience with similar ERP systems may be considered if the candidate has strong full-cycle accounting experience.
  • Experience with eCommerce/Inventory accounting such as: Marketplace payouts, Inventory reconciliations, Landed cost, COGS, Supplier deposits, FX, and Amazon / Shopify / 3PL reconciliation.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (VBA and Macros knowledge is a plus).
  • Knowledge of ASPE and IFRS is an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and formal presentation skills.
  • Self-starter that takes initiative, makes decisions, and provides clear direction to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to identify and adapt to changing business needs.

Compensation:


  • Salary: TBD
  • Term: Contract - 12 months with possibility of extension.
  • Location: North York – Hybrid Model (4 days in office, 1 day WFH)
