Who we are and what you’ll do

HOLOPLOT is seeking a decisive, technically strong and business-oriented Senior Director Software Engineering (f/m/d), to lead our 20-person software engineering organization, drive cross-functional delivery, and own the long-term software architecture for our high-performance audio products.

Working closely with engineering leads who focus on deep technical problem-solving and team mentorship, this role leads overall software delivery, strategic technical vision, and cross-departmental alignment.

Main objectives of the role

As Senior Director Software Engineering (f/m/d), you will take full technical ownership of the end-to-end delivery of HOLOPLOT’s software ecosystem, spanning embedded and distributed Linux systems, audio DSP, 3D/GPU, C++, Rust and web-based front-end applications, Kubernetes cluster and cloud infrastructure. You will act as the operational bridge between software engineering, hardware development, research, product, customer success teams, and key enterprise clients. You will work closely with the Director of Product for Software as well as the CPO, and report to the CTO.

Your role and responsibilities

• Strategic Software Vision & Architecture: Own and drive the strategic vision for the technical backbone of the HOLOPLOT product ecosystem. Proactively identify architectural risks and ensure performance and scalability across embedded hardware, audio processing platforms, and user interfaces.

• Execution & High-Stakes Delivery: Take full accountability for software delivery timeliness, quality, and reliability. Proactively lead critical client-facing missions, OS rollouts, and on-site integration handovers (e.g., venue acceptance testing and integration protocols), including regular international travel

• High-Performing Mission-Driven Teams: Attract, grow, and retain strong engineering talent to build highly successful, cross-functional product development teams. Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, agency, and innovation that drives high employee engagement, productivity, and strong outcomes for our customers.

• Cross-Functional Alignment: Drive seamless collaboration between Software, Research, Customer Success, Product Management, and external technical partners (such as client IT security and external system integrators). Eliminate inter-departmental friction and establish clear integration pathways.

• Business-First Leadership: Together with Product, align software priorities and architecture directly with HOLOPLOT’s strategic and commercial objectives. Make decisive, well-reasoned trade-offs under pressure while optimizing engineering output for maximum company value.

• Operational Leadership & Partnering: Partner with dedicated Engineering Managers and Tech Leads who oversee team culture, individual mentoring, and deeply technical topics. Foster a culture of engineering excellence, accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Focus your impact on operational discipline, accountability, and clear departmental direction.

• AI Strategy & Development Workflows: Define and execute HOLOPLOT's AI strategy for software development. Integrate AI-assisted engineering tools, automated workflows, and emerging AI technologies into the software development life cycle to elevate team productivity and explore modern product capabilities.

• Platform, Quality & Operational Excellence: Ensure high standards of quality, reliability, maintainability, and scalability across all software solutions. Identify, assess, and mitigate technological risks, including technical debt and platform lifecycle challenges. Define and improve engineering processes, development standards, and tooling to enable predictable, high-quality delivery.

• Security, Compliance & Risk Management: Drive HOLOPLOT’s technology security strategy, including cybersecurity, data protection, and secure-by-design principles. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, validation/certifications, and regulatory requirements. Ensure systems are resilient, reliable, and fit for production and customer use.

What you need to succeed in this role

• Engineering Leadership: Extensive experience managing software teams of significant size (15-30+ engineers) in complex, multi-disciplinary technology environments

• Deep-Tech Literacy: Comfortable navigating a highly heterogeneous tech stack encompassing Low-Level/Embedded C++ & Rust, Audio DSP, 3D/GPU rendering, Linux, Kubernetes, NATS, gRPC, JUCE, CI/CD and Web services.

• Track Record of Ownership: Proven experience driving complex hardware-software product rollouts and managing high-stakes client or partner integrations end-to-end.

• Cross-Functional Stakeholder Management: Strong diplomacy and technical communication skills, with a track record of bridging engineering teams with business, product, research, and client stakeholders.

• Pragmatic Decision-Making: Ability to operate with high clarity and a steady hand in fast-paced environments, prioritizing long-term product stability over short-term friction.

• AI-Driven Development Strategy: Demonstrated experience establishing AI-development strategies and driving the practical adoption of AI-assisted software development, LLM tooling, or automated engineering workflows.

• Audio Software and Hardware Products: Experience with the Pro Audio and Music Technology product space, as both developer and user.
