Senior Frontend Engineer

AppGate is looking for a talented Software Engineer to join our team in Gothenburg, Sweden. We work creatively in a supportive yet challenging environment. Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain high-quality frontend components and user interfaces across our products.
• Contribute to and evolve our component library.
• Drive accessibility best practices and ensure compliance with accessibility standards.
• Collaborate closely with designers to translate designs into polished, responsive, and user-friendly experiences.
• Improve frontend consistency, usability, and maintainability across applications.
• Participate in agile development processes and contribute to team discussions, planning, and reviews.
• Support and mentor other frontend developers on UI development best practices.

Requirements

Must-Have

• Strong experience with React and TypeScript.
• Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, and modern frontend styling approaches.
• Proven experience building and maintaining component libraries or design systems.
• Strong knowledge of web accessibility (WCAG, semantic HTML, keyboard navigation, screen readers, etc.).
• Experience with Storybook or similar component documentation tools.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with designers and translate Figma designs into production-ready interfaces.
• Proficient in English, both written and spoken.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Figma and design handoff workflows.
• Experience defining and maintaining frontend standards and best practices.
• Familiarity with automated accessibility testing tools.
• Experience using GitHub and participating in code reviews.
• Previous mentoring or coaching experience.
• Familiarity with agentic AI development

Bonus Skills

• Familiarity with Scrum and agile methodologies.
• Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
• Experience with frontend performance optimization.
