Senior Paralegal

As a senior paralegal, you will provide legal and administrative support to Best Buy Canada’s Legal team, with a primary focus on privacy matters, legal administration, and litigation support. You will manage privacy requests and escalations, maintain legal records and operational processes, and support litigation files from opening through resolution and closing under the direction of counsel.

We practice a remote-first working model, leveraging in-person interactions at our head office, in beautiful Vancouver, BC, for strategic, collaborative, and social purposes.

Join our collaborative Legal team as a senior paralegal.

What you’ll do:

• Manage and coordinate privacy escalations and disclosure requests, including store-camera and related customer requests, while maintaining the privacy inbox and confidential matter records.
• Process and track OneTrust data-subject requests, including access, deletion, and rectification requests; communicate with requestors and internal stakeholders; and escalate matters requiring legal judgment or approval.
• Support privacy incidents and customer complaint investigations by gathering and documenting information and preparing correspondence and settlement documentation as directed.
• Open, maintain, and close legal and litigation files; manage deadlines, calendars, trackers, corporate records, paper files, off-site storage, SharePoint and shared-drive content, and document-retention activities.
• Support litigation and dispute matters through investigation, fact gathering, research, drafting, demand responses, settlement agreements and releases, defenses, and materials for settlement conferences, mediations, hearings, and trials under the direction of counsel.
• Support Legal department operations, including litigation reporting, budget and invoice processing, project coding, cheque requests, supplier setup, mail and couriers, team communications, service-date reminders, drive access, and contract transfers.
• Crosstrain across core Legal support functions and provide coverage during vacations and workload peaks, including support with Marketplace agreements, vendor renewals, and other assigned Legal projects.

What we’re looking for:

• Five years of experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and organize work effectively.
• Experience negotiating and communicating effectively with customers, senior leaders, managers, and other stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage confidential information with accuracy, discretion, and timely follow-up.
• French-language skills are an asset.

Annualized Compensation Range

$70,000.00 - $80,000.00

Starting pay offered will consider skills and experience. Your pay can grow as you build your career with us.
