Position Summary:

The Senior Payroll Administrator role reports to the Director of Payroll. This role’s primary function is to support the Director and Payroll Manager and assist with future payroll projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Processing weekly pay cycles for approximately 200+ union/non-union, hourly and salaried employees while ensuring best practices and regulatory compliance is followed
  • Liaise with remote offices to ensure accuracy of hours, rates, overtime, time-off calculations, and statutory/public holiday payments
  • Support the accounting team by providing relevant information and analysis
  • Preparing, reviewing and electronically submitting ROE’s
  • Employee Benefit Plan processes
  • Experience Source Deductions, Union dues, RRSP, Pension Plans and benefit premiums
  • Assist with year-end audits
  • Provide Requested Information for HR department and executive teams
  • T4 & T4A filing
  • Related Filing & Correspondence
  • Maintaining strict confidentiality in all aspects of position
  • Provide Director of Payroll recommendations for efficiencies and system improvements
  • Other add-hoc duties assigned by Director of payroll

Qualifications

We are looking for the following Qualifications / Experience:

  • Required: Designation via the National Payroll Institute (PCP, CPM or other equivalent legacy designations)
  • 5+ years of experience in a payroll “specialist” role with 150+ employee processing
  • Advanced in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Prior experience with processing union payroll and in an environment where there are multiple collective agreements in place
  • Group benefit management experience
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Ability to multitask while meeting deadlines
