Role Overview:

This role requires someone confident working across multiple projects and programmes to turn outcome, schedule, cost, and workforce data into meaningful insights for senior leadership decision-making. Reporting to the Head of Portfolio Control, the role will be central to improving the maturity of the function by strengthening data capture, hygiene, alignment, and reporting. The successful candidate will bring the experience, judgement, and initiative needed to help shape the portfolio control capability in this rapidly expanding organisation.

Responsibilities will include:

• Data, Insight and Reporting: Gather KPI, schedule, cost, risk, dependency, and workforce data from across the portfolio to maintain accurate dashboards, interpret complex program information, and produce clear, actionable insights for senior leadership decision-making.
• Portfolio and PMO Governance: Support adherence to portfolio governance, financial controls, and delivery frameworks, helping to ensure initiatives remain aligned to agreed scope, schedule, budget, outcome, and decision-making requirements.
• Initiative Intake and Portfolio Visibility: Collaborate across teams to identify, assess, and categorise new and incremental initiatives, supporting a clear view of portfolio demand, priorities, and trade-off implications.
• Stakeholder Engagement and Alignment: Act as a connective tissue between program teams, risk managers, finance, control functions, and senior stakeholders to keep plans, risks, assumptions, financial information, and reporting aligned.
• Portfolio Maturity and Continuous Improvement: Drive improvements in data capture, hygiene, synchronisation, reporting standards, scheduling tools, and ways of working, helping the function do the basics well and evidence portfolio performance with confidence.
  
• Governance Board Support: Coordinate portfolio reporting, analyse performance trends, highlight risks and exceptions, and provide support to the Head of Portfolio Control for governance boards and senior leadership reviews.
• Schedule, Cost and Dependency Control: Capture and maintain visibility of interdependencies across projects and programmes, enabling critical path analysis, portfolio milestone planning, forward-looking schedule forecasts, and alignment between outcomes, schedule data and financial forecasts.
• Portfolio and PMO Governance: Support adherence to portfolio governance, financial controls, and delivery frameworks, helping to ensure initiatives remain aligned to agreed scope, schedule, budget, outcome, and decision-making requirements.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Extensive experience in a portfolio analyst, PMO, program controls, or program management role, ideally within engineering, marine, shipbuilding, defence, or another complex, emergent delivery environment.
• Good understanding of portfolio and PMO governance, including program scheduling, cost tracking, dependency management, change delivery reporting, financial controls, and performance reporting.
• High attention to detail, with a commitment to improving the accuracy, reliability, hygiene, and consistency of portfolio data and reporting.
• Able to employ emotional intelligence to collaborative with diverse technical, time challenged teams.
• Educated to degree level or able to demonstrate equivalent professional qualification, training, or relevant experience.
  
• Proficient in portfolio management, reporting, and data visualisation tools, including Jira, Power BI, and other relevant analytics or dashboarding platforms.
• Confident communicator with strong stakeholder engagement and coordination skills, able to present complex information clearly and concisely to technical, delivery, and senior leadership audiences.
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify root causes, challenge data quality, resolve discrepancies, and make evidence-based recommendations.
• Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, interpret, reconcile, and analyse complex PMO data to produce meaningful insights and recommendations.

Note: Due to the nature of work undertaken at SubSea Craft, the selected candidate must be capable of meeting the security requirements of the position, which would include as a minimum existing right to live and work in the UK, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), with UK National security clearance required for certain roles.*
