About the Role
As an active participant of the Glencore Coal Assets Australia (GCAA) Group Procurement team, the Senior Procurement Specialist is responsible for managing the end-to-end procurement life cycle, maximising value for GCAA's coal mines across New South Wales and Queensland.
Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Senior Procurement Specialist will focus on the procurement categories of Heavy Mining Equipment & Aftermarket Services and Engineering Services.
The successful candidate will commence in the role in January 2027.
Key tasks include:
- Conduct strategic sourcing for a broad range of Heavy Mining Equipment & Aftermarket Services and Engineering Services initiatives in collaboration with group technical functions and site engineering stakeholders. This includes development of sourcing strategies, evaluation, negotiations, contract drafting and contract implementation.
- Analyse spend data and market intelligence.
- Implement appropriate supplier relationship management processes to drive lifecycle value.
- Develop and maintain harmonious relationships with relevant functional departments, site stakeholders and key personnel.
- Maintain knowledge of and comply with all applicable Policies, Guidelines, Laws, Regulations and Statutory Obligations.
- Drive team performance and coach the Procurement Specialist team. Noting that this Senior Procurement Specialist position does not have any direct reports.
- Identify, evaluate and mitigate commercial, contractual and supplier related risks.
About You
- Have a minimum 10 years’ Heavy Mining Equipment & Aftermarket Services procurement experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to interface with various internal and external stakeholders in a decentralised operating model.
- Exceptional communication skills (written and oral), able to influence decision-making using evidence-based recommendations. Able to confirm and validate recommendations with facts to withstand scrutiny.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, execute, and manage work program independently.
- Motivated to produce high-quality deliverables on time while maintaining process discipline.
- Be commercially astute. Sharp analytical and problem-solving capability with strong attention to detail.
- Team player, experienced in working collaboratively and in an agile manner.
Knowledge and Experience
- Demonstrated experience in mining procurement and contract negotiations.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in supply chain management, business, commerce, legal or related engineering field.
- CIPS recognition desirable.
- High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of applications
