Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) - Site Based

We're looking for a Senior Project Engineer (Mechanical) to join our Industrial team and deliver projects within one of New Zealand's largest and most complex heavy manufacturing environments. Based in South Auckland, you'll lead capital projects and equipment upgrades that improve plant performance, safety and operational reliability.

In this role, you'll lead projects through the full lifecycle, from concept development and equipment specification through to procurement, installation and commissioning. Working closely with stakeholders, contractors, suppliers and operational teams, you'll deliver practical engineering solutions that improve plant performance and operational effectiveness.

You'll contribute to a diverse portfolio of capital, reliability, maintenance, safety and operational improvement initiatives. Working within one of Aotearoa's largest and most complex industrial manufacturing facilities, you'll work with advanced manufacturing technologies, large-scale mechanical systems and critical production assets that support one of New Zealand's most significant industrial operations.

He aha tāu mahi | What you’ll be doing

• Leading capital projects, equipment upgrades and operational improvement initiatives within a live manufacturing environment

• Managing project scope, programme, budget, risk and stakeholder engagement from concept through to operational handover

• Coordinating equipment vendors, suppliers and local contractors through procurement, installation and commissioning

• Working with operations and maintenance teams to integrate new equipment into existing plant infrastructure

• Leading safe installation and commissioning activities in brownfield environments while maintaining operational continuity

You're a practical, safety-focused and proactive engineer who enjoys taking ownership, building trusted relationships and delivering successful outcomes in complex industrial environments.

You’ll bring:

• A Mechanical Engineering qualification and experience delivering capital projects within heavy industrial or manufacturing environments

• Strong project management, stakeholder engagement and contractor management skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels

• Experience managing brownfield installations with a focus on health, safety and operational risk management

• Eligibility to work in New Zealand
