Senior Scientist - Structural Biology (m/f/d)

Overview

We are looking for an experienced structural biologist with a background in X-ray crystallography to join the growing Structural Biology group based in Munich, Germany. In close collaboration with the various departments at Crelux you will provide structural biology support for early-stage drug discovery projects covering a wide range of target classes. Your main responsibilities will include the planning of structural biology projects and crystallization experiments, X-ray crystallography data processing and structure determination of protein-ligand complexes, and the communication of results to our clients.

Responsibilities

• Planning and running structural biology client projects with a focus on structure-based drug design in early-stage drug discovery projects
• Planning of crystallization and data collection experiments as well as the determination of X-ray crystal structures (typically protein-ligand complexes)
• Professional written and verbal communication of scientific results in internal and external project teams
• Careful documentation and evaluation of scientific protocols and results
• The ability to plan work to meet planned timelines
• Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of scientific advances in structural biology

Qualifications

• PhD in Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a related subject
• Practical and theoretical knowledge of construct design, crystallization, and structure determination using standard software packages (in particular Global Phasing, CCP4, XDS, PyMOL and ChimeraX) running on Linux
• Experience in any of the following areas would be highly advantageous – cryo-electron microscopy, crystallographic fragment screening, protein design
• Experience with programming (Bash and Python), databases (SQL/MariaDB) and/or administration of Linux systems would be a strong advantage
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work and communicate efficiently in interdisciplinary teams
• Fluent spoken and written English and (ideally) German
