Senior Software Engineer (TopEase) Zagreb | Hybrid

Alongside our crisis management technology, F24 also delivers Governance, Risk & Compliance software through our TopEase platform — helping enterprise customers model and manage processes, governance structures, and compliance requirements across complex organisations.

TopEase has been in continuous development for over 30 years and is now entering a pivotal phase, with significant investment going into modernising legacy components, improving performance, and unlocking new features ahead of the upcoming TopEase 8.0 release. You'll join a specialised backend team responsible for the core engine that powers every application on the platform — working alongside highly tenured engineers, including architects with decades of domain knowledge, as well as more junior team members.

The work strikes a balance between maintaining a mature, complex system and modernising its architecture and dependencies — tackling technical debt, upgrading Java dependencies, and preparing the platform for future SaaS alignment, all while continuing to ship new features.

This is an opportunity to:
✔️ Work on a GRC platform trusted by enterprise customers globally, as part of a SaaS provider serving 5,500+ organisations worldwide
✔️Help modernise a 30-year-old core engine — real architectural influence, not just feature delivery
✔️ Get hands-on with BPMN 2.0 functionality, REST APIs, and OAuth-based integrations
✔️ Contribute directly to the TopEase 8.0 release and beyond
✔️ Learn from tenured architects while helping shape the platform's technical direction
✔️ Progress into a broader engineering leadership role within 1–2 years, with the chance to influence F24's technology strategy across regions

What You'll Bring:
✔️ Strong Java backend development experience
✔️ Comfort working with REST APIs, structured data formats (JSON/XML), and automated testing (JUnit)
✔️ Experience analysing, refactoring, and optimising legacy code
✔️ Exposure to system design and architecture — you've contributed to discussions on refactoring, performance optimisation, or reducing technical debt
✔️ A product mindset is a bonus — the ability to challenge requirements and propose improvements that add customer value
✔️ A collaborative approach and comfort working across engineering, product, and QA teams
