Service Technician - Rescue Tool Specialist (Service & Sales)

Tonawanda, United StatesRemoteFull-time

AI Summary

A field-based Rescue Solutions Specialist who services and repairs hydraulic and battery-powered rescue tools, trains fire departments, and drives Hurst product sales across a territory.

About this role

WHO WE ARE:
At Firematic, we’ve spent over 50 years serving those who protect us all. As a family-owned business, we take pride in delivering not just equipment—but reliability, trust, and unmatched support to fire departments across our region.
Our customers depend on us when it matters most—and we’re looking for someone who shares that responsibility.

THE ROLE:
This is not your typical sales job—and it’s not just a technician role either. As a Rescue Solutions Specialist, you’ll be the go-to expert for Fire Equipment and Hurst rescue tools in your territory. You’ll work directly with fire departments—maintaining their equipment, training their teams, and helping them make informed purchasing decisions.
You’ll build relationships in the firehouse, on the training ground, and in the field—earning trust through both technical expertise and real-world credibility.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:
Service & Technical Support
• Perform annual service, testing, and repairs on hydraulic and battery-powered rescue tools
• Troubleshoot equipment issues on-site and provide timely solutions
• Ensure all tools meet safety and performance standards
• Maintain detailed service documentation and reports
Training & Customer Partnership
• Conduct hands-on tool demonstrations and training drills
• Support departments with product knowledge, application, and best practices
• Act as a trusted resource to chiefs, officers, and purchasing decision-makers
Sales & Territory Development
• Grow Hurst product sales within your assigned territory
• Identify opportunities through existing relationships and new outreach
• Manage the full sales cycle: demo → evaluation → quote → close
• Partner with Firematic’s apparatus and equipment teams on bundled opportunities
• Represent Firematic at trade shows, department events, and industry functions

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR:
• Mechanical or technical background (equipment service, automotive, diesel, or similar)
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build trust with first responders
• Self-starter who thrives in a field-based, relationship-driven role
• Ability to communicate technical concepts in a clear, practical way
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Firefighter, EMT, or experience working with fire departments
• Background in rescue tools, hydraulics, or emergency equipment
• Prior sales or customer-facing experience

WHY FIREMATIC?
• Established, respected name in the fire service industry
• Strong existing customer relationships across Long Island and beyond
• Team-oriented, family-run culture with long-tenured employees
• Opportunity to make a direct impact on life-saving operations

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:
• Competitive base salary + commission/bonus opportunities
• Company vehicle or allowance
• Full benefits package
• Ongoing training and manufacturer support

THE IMPACT:
At Firematic, this role is bigger than sales or service. You’re helping ensure that when a crew arrives on scene, their tools perform without hesitation.

That’s the standard. That’s the mission.
