Rochester Division
Title: Shipping Supervisor
Reports to: Plant Manager
Department: Production
Position Purpose:
Responsible for directing activities of the shipping department and managing inventory.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Tasks related to this position may vary and are not limited to those listed below:
- Follow established safety rules, policies and procedures at all times
- Maintain high level of housekeeping in the warehouse and shipping department
- Correspond directly with customers and sales
- Monitor shipping schedule. Member of the planning team
- Maintain filing system
- Process customer pickups as required
- Collaborate, consult and communicate with other supervisors on all shifts
- Administer the truck scheduling system
- Develop delivery schedules for all orders
- Recommend changes for improvements in efficiency and performance
- Schedule dock appointments with customers as needed
- Compile a daily performance report and distribute
- Responsible meeting operational budget including all shipping related costs (Freight, Pallets….)
- Contact and schedule outside carriers as required
- Assist in warehouse as needed
- Spot trailers as needed
- Reconcile daily shipping log
- Ensure prompt, accurate loading and shipping of finished product for customers
- Monitor all job functions to match quality and safety policies
- Ensure prompt and accurate execution of all job functions
- Ensure all projects are completed timely and accurately
- Work from written and verbal directions
- Maintain neat and orderly work area
- Full-time role in a manufacturing plant/warehouse setting
- Full inventory two times per year
- Cycle counting inventory monthly
- Maintain the aged inventory process
- Responsible for the forklift fleet in shipping
- Responsible for the proper maintenance and care of the yard horse
- Attends profit projection meeting weekly
Skill Set:
- Basic math and computer skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Organizational skills
- Forklift experience
Qualifications Desired:
- 5 years of experience as a shipping supervisor or manager
- Experience in the corrugated packaging industry highly preferred
- High school diploma / GED
