Software Engineer

About the role
We're hiring analysts and engineers to provide Level 3 technical support and development for PRIIP Cloud, our central application platform for WSD, that generates regulatory documentation and data outputs for structured products and OTC derivatives. You'll support both our clients, who include Tier 1 banks, and our internal product team.

What you'll do

• Own and resolve technical requests from clients and internal stakeholders, often to tight deadlines

• Structure the technical data for complex, exotic and novel trades so the platform can process them

• Build and extend the platform's initialization, enrichment, validation and document-generation layers. You might adapt existing code and precedents, develop our in-house applications (including user interfaces and agentic AI tools), or design new approaches where none exist

• Become an expert in how data moves between the platform's layers. PRIIP Cloud's inputs and outputs feed many downstream services across WSD, so this knowledge is central to the role

• Help onboard and integrate clients into our systems

• Bring insight from clients and the wider industry back to the team to help shape the product's direction

• Work closely with front-end and back-end engineers, product engineers, quantitative analysts, data analysts, regulatory and legal analysts, and linguists. You'll need to understand their work well enough to coordinate and drive cross-functional projects

The pace is fast. We'll expect you to work quickly and accurately, and to make full use of the tools available, including our in-house AI tools and scripts.

What we're looking for
This role sits at the intersection of financial expertise, technical skill and client management. We don't expect you to be strong in all three on day one. We're looking for real strength in at least one, and the appetite to build the others on the job.

You're likely to be either:

• someone with experience in structured products, OTC derivatives, investment banking or a similar area, with a genuine interest in tech and coding, or

• a technologist with solid coding skills and some exposure to financial concepts.

Either way, you'll bring:

• experience of, or a clear aptitude for, client-facing technical support

• an understanding of how technical operations run in a software environment

• the ability to collaborate across teams and take the lead on projects

Skills that will help you succeed

• Comfort working with XML and JSON, making API calls, and reading or writing scripts to debug application logic

• Programming/scripting language experience, particularly JavaScript, PHP, HTML, Java, XSLT, SQL

• A logical, structured approach to problems and strong attention to detail

• The ability to explain complex topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences

• Strong reading comprehension, enough to interpret legal documents and regulatory requirements

• Good organization and prioritization in a fast-paced environment where priorities shift

• A client-focused mindset

• Experience with Agile ways of working

• Enthusiasm for new tools, technologies and methods, including AI

• A university degree in any subject
