Program Duration: January 11 through March 31, 2027 (11.5 weeks). Residents work 40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with a 30-minute lunch.

Position Type: Temporary, Non-Exempt, Hourly

Conversion to Full-Time: This is the heart of the program: residents who successfully complete the residency may be eligible to join Bluestaq full-time as an Associate Software Engineer. Full-time offers are contingent on performance and business need.

Position Description
Ready to launch your software career? The Bluestaq Software Engineering Residency Program is an 11.5-week, paid, cohort-based program built around one goal: turning promising early-career developers into full-time Bluestaq Associate Software Engineers. This isn't a coffee-run internship. From week one you'll work real backlog items on the systems our U.S. Space Force customers use every day, guided by a dedicated engineer-mentor, and you'll close out the program by presenting your capstone work directly to Bluestaq engineering leadership.

Who We’re Looking For
We're offering the residency to early-career software talent ready to commit to a full-time engineering role, including: final-year undergraduate and master's students (graduating by January 2027), recent graduates in Computer Science, Mathematics, Cybersecurity, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related fields. If you're excited about learning fast, collaborating, and shipping real-world solutions, we want you on our team.

What You’ll Do
At Bluestaq, our residents aren't confined to one technology stack. You'll explore multiple technologies while contributing to impactful projects. Expect to work with languages and tools like Java, Python, Angular, Groovy, REST Services, GIT, PostgreSQL, Mongo, Athena, NiFi, Quarkus, and cloud platforms like Google Cloud, MS Azure, and AWS.

This isn't just about coding — we're all about growing your skills. You'll pair with experienced engineers, learn data storage solutions, front-end and back-end technologies, and cloud-based infrastructure, with structured milestones along the way: an onboarding week covering our tooling and secure development practices, a midpoint demo, and a capstone presentation. We offer the perfect balance of guidance and independence, allowing you to learn while making a real impact.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• You have software development experience through coursework, personal projects, bootcamp work, or prior internships.
• You have experience with software development and scripting languages.
• You're familiar with front-end/back-end technologies, data storage solutions, and cloud platforms like AWS, Google Cloud, or MS Azure.
• You're capable of working in a team-centric environment.
• You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
• You're passionate about big data technologies and excited to work with cloud infrastructures.
• You have ability to obtain a security clearance.
• You’re available to work full-time on-site for the full program (January 11 – March 31, 2027).
