Solar PV Roofer / General Operative

Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Solar PV Roofer / General Operative to join our growing renewables team, installing, servicing and maintaining Solar PV systems and assisting with roof ventilation installations across residential and small commercial properties throughout the North East of England.

The successful candidate will have strong roofing experience, be safety-conscious, and enjoy working as part of a team delivering high-quality installations. Experience with Solar PV systems is desirable, although training will be provided for the right candidate with the appropriate roofing background.

Experience with Clenergy, Renusol and GSE mounting systems is advantageous, as is knowledge of PAS 2035 standards and retrofit projects.

You will play a key role in helping households improve energy efficiency, reduce energy costs and lower carbon emissions while maintaining the highest standards of workmanship and customer service.

Daily Responsibility

• Install both in-roof and on-roof Solar PV mounting systems and panels.

• Carry out roofing work associated with Solar PV installations.

• Assist with roof ventilation installations and other energy efficiency measures.

• Work safely and effectively as part of an installation team.

• Carry out planned maintenance and remedial works where required.

• Ensure all work complies with current MCS standards, manufacturer specifications and health and safety regulations.

• Liaise professionally with customers, site managers and colleagues.

• Maintain company tools, equipment and vehicles to a high standard.

• Complete all work to a high standard of quality and workmanship.

Other Duties

• Represent the company professionally at all times, delivering excellent customer service.

• Work closely with electricians, renewable installers, designers and project coordinators.

• Assist with site preparation and general installation duties where required.

• Provide feedback on installation methods to support continuous improvement.

• Support the training and development of apprentices and new team members when required.

Experience & Skills Desirable

Essential

• Previous roofing experience.

• Experience working at height.

• Valid CSCS card.

• Full UK driving licence.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.

• Good communication and customer service skills.

• Strong work ethic with a positive attitude.

• Passion for renewable energy and delivering high-quality installations.

Desirable

• Experience installing Solar PV systems.

• MCS Solar PV Installation qualification.

• Experience with Clenergy, Renusol or GSE mounting systems.

• Experience with roof ventilation systems.

• Retrofit experience, including ECO, SHDF and PAS 2030/2035 projects.

• Working at Height, IPAF or PASMA qualification
