As a Special Education Teacher at The Pinnacle School, you will create personalized academic and social-emotional learning experiences for students with complex learning challenges. Using evidence-based strategies and a collaborative approach, you’ll help each student develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree in special education or related field (Master’s preferred)

  • Connecticut certification in Special Education or eligibility for certification

  • At least two years of experience teaching students with learning or emotional differences

  • Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and evidence-based interventions

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills within multidisciplinary teams

What You’ll Do

  • Design and implement individualized lessons aligned with each student’s IEP goals and learning style

  • Support students’ emotional regulation and coping skills using the Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS) model

  • Integrate social, executive functioning, and problem-solving skill development into daily instruction

  • Collaborate with counselors, related service providers, and families to ensure cohesive student support

  • Maintain a structured, safe, and inclusive classroom that fosters growth and curiosity
