Specialist Heavy Plant & Yard Operative – Straddle Carrier

The Stores & Warehousing team manages the receipt, storage, and distribution of all materials and equipment required for our projects. By maintaining organised inventory control and efficient stock management, the department ensures that the right materials are available at the right time, supporting smooth project workflows and reducing delays. Their role is key to operational efficiency and effective supply chain management.

We are looking for an experienced Heavy Plant Operator to join our Warehouse & Logistics team, with the opportunity to develop specialist skills operating a Combilift SC Straddle Carrier.

The Straddle Carrier is a specialist piece of equipment used to safely move, transport and position large modular plantrooms, equipment and other high-value loads within our production, yard and storage areas.

This is a varied role which combines specialist plant operation with wider yard and logistics activities. Previous Straddle Carrier experience is not essential, as full training will be provided to the right candidate.

The role involves safely operating a Combilift SC to move and position large modular plantrooms, equipment and specialist loads, carrying out controlled movements across production, yard and storage areas, and coordinating closely with production, warehouse, logistics and lifting teams. Responsibilities include daily pre-use checks, reporting defects, following RAMS and movement plans, and supporting specialist lifting operations. When the Straddle Carrier is not required, the successful candidate will assist with general warehouse and yard duties, including loading and unloading, organising materials, preparing equipment for production or dispatch, supporting deliveries and collections, and maintaining clean and safe working areas. Overall, this is a varied operational role suited to someone who enjoys a mix of plant operation, logistics and general warehouse/yard work.
