Job Description

The Specialist Scrum Master serves as a servant leader and Agile coach for one or more Scrum teams. This role is responsible for enabling high-performing teams through effective facilitation, coaching, impediment removal, continuous improvement, and delivery excellence. The Specialist Scrum Master partners closely with Product Owners, Engineering Leads, Architects, and business stakeholders to maximise value delivery and accelerate Agile maturity.

Key Responsibilities

Agile Leadership & Coaching

  • Coach teams on Scrum principles, Agile practices, and servant leadership.
  • Foster self-organisation, accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Help teams mature in Agile delivery practices and product thinking.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and promote psychological safety.

Scrum Facilitation

  • Facilitate Sprint Planning, Daily Scrums, Sprint Reviews, Refinements, and Retrospectives.
  • Ensure ceremonies remain outcome-driven and focused on value delivery.
  • Drive effective backlog refinement and sprint goal alignment.

Impediment Management

  • Identify, track, and facilitate removal of team and organisational blockers.
  • Escalate risks and dependencies when necessary.
  • Enable teams to proactively address impediments rather than creating dependency on the Scrum Master.

Delivery Excellence

  • Monitor Sprint health, team velocity, predictability, and flow metrics.
  • Support forecasting, release planning, and delivery commitments.
  • Drive adoption of Agile metrics to improve performance and predictability

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Owners to maintain a healthy, prioritised backlog.
  • Collaborate with leadership and stakeholders to align delivery objectives.
  • Communicate progress, risks, and dependencies transparently.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead meaningful retrospectives resulting in actionable improvements.
  • Drive process optimisation initiatives across teams.
  • Promote Lean and Agile best practices throughout the organisation

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Agile environments.
  • 3+ years of experience as a Scrum Master supporting software delivery teams.
  • Deep understanding of Scrum, Kanban, Lean, and Agile methodologies.
  • Experience with Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent Agile tools.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Professional Scrum Master (PSM), SAFe Scrum Master (SSM), or equivalent certification.
  • Experience supporting multiple Scrum teams.
  • Experience in scaled Agile environments (SAFe, LeSS, Nexus).
  • Knowledge of Agile metrics, flow efficiency, and Lean product delivery
