Sr Software Engineer (Tableau)

What's the role?

In this role you will be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in data visualization, responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing advanced reporting, dashboards, and BI solutions. You will work with data science, engineering, and mapping teams to ensure data accuracy, cleaning, and standardization, as well as building and publishing interactive dashboards on Tableau Server. Inaddtion you will:

• Design and publish interactive dashboards on Tableau Server, ensuring data accuracy and availability.
• Collaborate with data science and engineering teams to standardize and clean data for business requirements.
• Create and edit SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
• Manage ETL processes to ensure data is properly transformed and loaded for reporting.
• Review and improve existing reporting systems, integrating new solutions where needed.
• Provide end-user support, maintaining technical documentation for dashboards and workflows.
• Design and visualize KPIs and metrics, optimizing dashboards for performance, especially with large datasets.
• Use advanced Tableau features such as calculated fields, LOD expressions, table calculations, data blending, and dynamic filters.
• Build data narratives through dashboards, making complex insights accessible to non-technical users.
• Manage Tableau workbooks, including permissions, access control, and data refresh schedules.

Who are you?

You are a fast learner, with an eye for detail, strong problem-solving and debugging skills. In addition you have the following qualifications:

• BS or MS in Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
• 5 to 8 years of overall industry expereicne including 4+ years of work experience in data visualization and development and maintenance of databases, ETL systems, and user tools, using SQL and Python or any other scripting language.
• Extensive experience in developing, maintaining and managing Tableau driven dashboards & analytics and working knowledge of Tableau administration/architecture
• Experience in data blending, data transformation, and ETL processes.
• Strong SQL skills for creating complex queries and working with databases.
• A solid understanding of relational databases, and normalization
• Proficiency with developing on Cloud-based Web Services such as AWS and Azure
• Ability to develop and integrate databases, systems, and tools using various programming languages, and to debug issues caused by hardware, operating systems, or application programs
• Experience in developing in an Agile framework
• Experience with Git or other source code management systems
