Key Responsibilities
- Maintain the fixed asset subledger for multiple hotel properties and the corporate office, including recording additions, disposals, and transfers.
- Calculate and record monthly depreciation, and reconcile fixed asset balances to the general ledger.
- Manage property tax compliance, including tracking assessments and due dates, reviewing and processing tax bills, and supporting the appeals process as needed.
- Process vendor invoices and code them to the correct general ledger accounts, departments, and cost centers; process weekly payment runs.
- Prepare and post month-end journal entries, including accruals, prepaid amortization, and depreciation.
- Perform monthly balance sheet account reconciliations; research and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Assist in preparing monthly financial statements and reports, including variance analysis and supporting schedules.
- Support month-end and year-end close processes to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
- Maintain organized, audit-ready documentation and assist with gathering support for audit requests.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and support special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field.
- 0–2 years of accounting experience; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and core accounting concepts, including debits, credits, and account reconciliations.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data and deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Clear written and verbal communication skills.
- A collaborative, can-do attitude and eagerness to learn and grow in an accounting career.
