About the role
As aStaffProcess Engineer at D-Wave New Haven, you willbe responsible fordevelopingand implementing processes to fabricate both our current- and next-gen QPU designs.D-Wave New Haven is moving to an integrated-QPU architecture with asignificant rise in process complexity vs. earlier designs; your job will be to adaptR&D processes to (low- to medium-volume) production,ensuring a stable and repeatablemulti-layer process flow using SPC and in situ metrology. You will alsobe responsible forcoordinating with the design and measurement teams to assess device performance and drive improvements to theprocess accordingly.This is a hands-on position; you will spendsignificant timein theclean room.
As astaffengineer, you willbe responsible formentoring and training junior process engineers and technicians, as well as presenting plans and results to executives and other stakeholderson a regular basis.
You will also be involved in the design, construction, and qualification of the new D-Wave New Haven clean room facility, which is being built over 2026 and 2027. This will include space planning, toolselection, facilitiesplanning, and qualification of new tools/processes as they come online. Until the new facility is complete, your work will take a place in the Yale clean room facilities as well as on-site at D-Wave New Haven.
What you'll do
- Responsible fordrivingtheintegrationofD-Wave’s integrated QPU fabrication process, moving it from development to production
- Using tools such as JMPand SiemensOpCenterXto trackprocessintegration progress and success,identifyingany roadblocksas they appear
- Designing and executing experiments to improvedevice quality and process fidelity,andcommunicatingthe results to the fabrication team and otherstakeholders
- Operating tools such as metal deposition systems, electron-beam and optical lithography tools, and wet and dry etch systems in both the D-Wave and Yale clean room facilities
- Routine maintenance of tools and facilities in the D-Wave lab, and qualification of new fabrication tools as needed
- Design in situ metrology regimes to track the productionand tool health at all steps via SPC
About You
- 5+ years of(post-graduate)semiconductor or related industry experience
- MS orPh.Dinelectrical engineering, materials science, or related field
- Proventrack recordofdrivingcomplexfabrication process development and integration, particularly small-to-medium-batch production
- Some hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repairing fabrication equipment
- Expertiseinat least one of the following:Through-silicon vias, indium bump bonding/packaging, electron beam lithography

The pay range for this role is:
$127,000 - $175,000 USD per year (New Haven CT)
