Strategic Planning & Alignment Lead (Global Security)

What is the opportunity?

The Strategic Planning & Alignment Lead serves as a strategic partner within Global Security, collaborating with senior decision-makers across RBC. This role focuses on translating executive vision into clear strategic outcomes and ensuring alignment across cybersecurity initiatives. The position acts as a catalyst for strategic execution excellence, emphasizing the journey from vision to measurable results while positioned outside delivery teams and decision-making authorities to provide objective strategic oversight.

What do you need to succeed?

Strategic Partnership & Outcome Definition

• Collaborate with the Senior Management Team (SMT) to clearly define and articulate strategic outcomes, success criteria, and organizational alignments for Global Security initiatives
• Facilitate strategic planning sessions to ensure initiatives are properly scoped, prioritized, and linked to RBC's cybersecurity strategy
• Coach senior leaders on effective articulation of strategic intent and expected outcomes

Strategic Tracking & Oversight

• Establish and track key strategic milestones across Global Security initiatives
• Monitor progress against strategic objectives and report on status to leadership
• Ensure transparency in initiative status and strategic outcomes through regular reporting
• Maintain strategic dashboards and executive-level status reports

Governance & Coordination

• Develop and maintain strategic initiative frameworks, governance processes, and decision-making protocols
• Coordinate PI- planning cross-functional planning events and stakeholder engagement activities
• Ensure clear strategic commitments and accountabilities are established and documented

Knowledge Management & Communication

• Create and maintain strategic documentation that links vision to execution, including strategic roadmaps and outcome frameworks
• Coach teams on strategic thinking, initiative management, and alignment best practices
• Communicate strategic progress and outcomes to diverse stakeholders across RBC
• Drive adoption of strategic enablement practices across Global Security departments

What do you need to succeed?

Must Have

• 8+ years of experience in strategic planning, program management within cybersecurity or technology
• Experience working directly with senior leadership to define strategic outcomes and secure commitments
• Strong background in strategic tracking, milestone management, and progress monitoring
• Experience in cybersecurity, financial services, or large-scale technology environments
• Strong capability to guide teams on effectively managing and prioritizing backlogs to ensure alignment with business goals
• Experience training teams on creating, editing, and organizing pages for sprint planning, retrospectives, and knowledge sharing in Confluence
• Excellent technical and business acumen, must be comfortable presenting to a broad range of stakeholders

Nice to have:

• Change Management certification
• Previous banking experience
• PMP
