- Assess, understand and challenge boundary conditions from interfacing groups
- Perform hand calculations and FEA to ensure product integrity at minimum weight
- Document analyses for internal reviews and certification purposes
- Evaluate need for and define requirements for coupon / specimen or bench test to support validation and verification of structure
- Support definition of test plans for full engine tests on test stand or on aircraft to verify analyses
- Collaborate with design to ensure the most efficient products are defined
- Collaborate with the systems and certification team to ensure certifiability of products
- Minimum 2 years experience in mechanical structure analysis: static structure, bolted joints, fatigue, rotordynamics, modal.
- Experience in FEA (ANSYS workbench preferred)
- Methodical, rigorous and efficient
- Ability to guide design team to optimize structure
- Ability to understand structure and loads, static and dynamic
- Good team, communication and leadership skills required. Ability to work with minimal supervision and identify strategies to remove roadblocks is paramount. Mental flexibility and the ability to change direction based on new information is an absolute must in our fast paced environment
- Catia 3DX or equivalent
- Experience with tolerancing requirements
- Google G -Suite including drive, mail, calendar, docs, sheets, slides, charts, hangouts; slack, application lifecycle
- Ability to work hard to meet our ambitious goals and tight deadlines
- Ability to iterate mechanical designs to reduce mass and improve robustness.
- Strong knowledge of vibration
- Experience with rotating machinery
- Experience with electrical motors, inverters
