About this role

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT), an employee-owned consultant engineering firm, is seeking an SUE Field Technician to join our Team in Washington, DC and add significant value to our company growth. Position can also be located in our Rockville, MD office.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze and interpret complex utility records and prints
  • Travel to assigned work site and perform utility designation, (identifying and marking underground facilities)
  • Use electromagnetic locating equipment and follow the AMT designating process to ensure accurate and complete locates
  • Wear appropriate safety equipment and follow established safety practices and procedures established by management
  • Contact Senior SUE Tech when in need of assistance
  • Other duties assigned by management

    • Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience with SUE and/or private utility locating
  • Ability to work outdoors in all types of weather and all types of field conditions
  • Physical demands include extensive walking and bending. The employee must have the ability to open manhole covers and or other structure of varying weights
  • Ability to work on a vacuum truck, perform maintenance, complete test holes and reports accordingly. Maintain all vac truck equipment and supplies
  • Ability to read and understand directional maps, topographic maps and various types of utility prints
  • Ability to use and interpret various pieces of electromagnetic utility locating equipment
  • Ability to multi-task, i.e. make research calls for one project while commuting to another project, coordinate with crew members on various jobs
  • Ability to work out-of-town on an as needed basis
