Position Summary

Centurion Planning & Design is seeking a full-time, in-office Survey LiDAR Technician to join our Survey Department.

This position focuses on the processing, registration, QA/QC, and production of survey deliverables from LiDAR and point cloud data, with an emphasis on terrestrial laser scanning. The position will also support mobile LiDAR, aerial LiDAR, drone photogrammetry, and conventional survey data processing.

We are looking for an experienced LiDAR or survey data processing technician who understands point clouds, survey control, registration, feature extraction, and QA/QC. GIS experience is a plus, but this is primarily a survey and LiDAR processing position.

Candidates with strong terrestrial LiDAR experience are encouraged to apply even if they have limited aerial or mobile LiDAR experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Process and register terrestrial LiDAR and laser scanning datasets.
• Perform point cloud registration, alignment, cleanup, filtering, classification, and QA/QC.
• Integrate LiDAR data with survey control, GNSS, total station, and other conventional survey data.
• Extract survey features, linework, breaklines, pavement, drainage features, structures, and terrain information from point clouds.
• Develop surfaces, contours, terrain models, and other topographic survey products.
• Identify and troubleshoot registration, control, coordinate system, and data-quality issues.
• Prepare processed data for production in TBC, Civil 3D, and other survey/CAD workflows.
• Process and support mobile LiDAR datasets.
• Process and support aerial LiDAR and UAS photogrammetry datasets.
• Coordinate with survey field crews and drone personnel regarding control, coverage, and data quality.
• Manage large point cloud and survey datasets and support final survey QA/QC.
  

Qualifications

• Professional experience processing LiDAR, laser scanning, or point cloud data.
• Experience with terrestrial LiDAR, survey data processing, or similar reality-capture workflows.
• Working knowledge of survey control, coordinate systems, horizontal and vertical datums, elevations, and georeferencing.
• Ability to identify registration, control, and point cloud quality issues.
• Experience working with large point cloud and survey datasets.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to survey accuracy.

Preferred

• Experience with a land surveying, civil engineering, LiDAR, or reality-capture firm.
• Experience extracting survey features and developing topographic surfaces from point clouds.
• Mobile LiDAR experience.
• Aerial/UAS LiDAR and photogrammetry experience.
• PPK and GNSS/INS trajectory processing experience.
• GIS/ArcGIS experience.
• FAA Part 107 certification.
