The System Architecture Team Lead will lead and mentor a team of architects responsible for the foundational platform, kernel optimizations, and cloud-native infrastructure. This role focuses on the "engine" of the system—ensuring a scalable, high-performance, and resilient architecture built on Kubernetes, microservices, and advanced networking.
You will serve as the primary technical authority for our infrastructure strategy, driving the evolution of our cell-site software platform and integrating AI-driven capabilities into our architectural framework.
What you will do:
Lead & Mentor: Lead an existing team of 6–7 System Architects, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous architectural innovation.
Standardize Governance: Establish and enforce standardized methodologies for the team, including templates and quality bars for Technical Specification Documents (TSDs) and architectural RFCs.
Platform Strategy: Drive the technical strategy for the cell-site software platform, built on Kubernetes (EKSA/SUSE) in a cloud-native architecture.
AI & Productivity: Spearhead the adoption of AI-assisted development tools and workflows to accelerate engineering productivity and automate Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
Operational Integration: Ensure architects actively participate in planning and execution of tasks, defining and formalizing feature-level KPIs.
Observability & Debuggability: Lead initiatives to improve system observability and debuggability across complex distributed deployments.
Systems Engineering: Balance real-time constraints, resource management, and networking requirements inherent to high-performance systems.
Feedback Loop: Incorporate feedback from deployed systems into product improvements and the technical roadmap.
What you should have:
Leadership experience: 3+ years as an Architecture Team Lead or Technical Lead.
Cloud-native expertise: Strong knowledge of Kubernetes architecture (preferably EKSA or SUSE) and container orchestration.
Systems knowledge: Good understanding of the Linux kernel, memory management, and I/O subsystems.
Networking: Solid understanding of L2–L7 networking, software-defined networking (SDN), and high-speed data planes.
AI & productivity tools: Familiarity with using LLMs and AI frameworks to enhance engineering workflows or product capabilities.
Architecture documentation: Proven ability to produce high-quality technical specifications and work within SAFe/Agile environments.
Telecom domain (advantage): Familiarity with the cellular stack (4G/5G NR, RAN, Core) or wireless communication protocols.
Networking functions (advantage): Experience with Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) or Cloud-Native Network Functions (CNFs).
System modernization: Experience modernizing complex systems while maintaining production stability.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
