Job Overview
Responsible for effective provisioning, installation, configuration, and maintenance of network related services, including server and workstation Operating Systems, software and applications, at the site. The System Administrator engages in proactive system monitoring. They have a holistic overview of the complete corporate network and use centralized management platforms. Troubleshooting is part of their daily tasks.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Set work pace, and take lead initiative on new projects
- Install new / rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with industry standards and project/operational requirements.
- Contribute to and maintain system standards.
- Research and recommend innovative, and where possible automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale.
- Perform regular file archival/backup and purge as necessary.
- Provide Tier II/other support per request from various constituencies. Investigate and troubleshooting issues.
- Repair and recover from hardware or software failures. Coordinate and communicate with impacted constituencies.
- Collaborate with the System Admins of other sites on implementation of corporate changes.
- Follow procedures to maintain network security compliance codes.
- Coordinate with and monitor performance of external technology vendors/service providers
Required Knowledge and Skills
- 5+ years’ experience in computer networks and systems maintenance.
- A+, Network+, Network Security, Microsoft MCSA/MCSE accreditation advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Good interpersonal skills.
- Working experience with cloud infrastructure technologies such as AWS and Azure a plus
- Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, Azure Active Directory, Microsoft On-prem Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, DNS
- Knowledge with virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, etc.
- Attention to detail.
- Good problem-solving skills.
Education/Experience
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
