About the role: 

 
The Systems Analyst is critical to the effective operation of core retail applications, with a specialised focus on Point of Sale (POS) platforms and their integration with downstream business systems. The role combines deep subject matter expertise with end-to-end ownership, encompassing support for roadmap planning, vendor management, solution design, project delivery, operational support, and continuous improvement of POS technologies across Ampol's retail network. The role serves as the technology SME for POS applications and associated integrations, ensuring reliable transaction processing, master data accuracy, and seamless data exchange across connected systems. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

 

• Act as the technical SME for Ampol's POS applications, providing expertise across POS functionality, transaction processing, master data, pricing, promotions, and integration points with downstream systems. 
• Perform hands-on analysis, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and support of POS applications and associated interfaces to ensure stable and reliable business operations. 
• Develop and maintain a detailed understanding of end-to-end retail transaction flows and master data processes, ensuring accurate data exchange between POS and connected platforms. 
• Support project and enhancement delivery through requirements analysis, solution design input, system configuration, integration validation, pilot execution, deployment support, and production releases. 
• Investigate and resolve complex application, transaction, integration, and data quality issues, working closely with vendors and internal technology teams to determine root cause and drive resolution. 
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with vendors, business stakeholders, architecture teams, and downstream application owners while identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, and continuous improvement. 
• Administer and maintain Jira backlogs, user stories, defects, workflows, technical documentation, and support artefacts while identifying opportunities for automation, simplification, and continuous improvement. 

 

Qualifications & Experience 

 

• Proven hands-on experience supporting POS applications within retail environments, including transaction processing, application configuration, master data management, and operational support. 
• Strong understanding of retail system integrations, including APIs, middleware platforms such as Boomi, transaction interfaces, and data flows between POS and downstream applications. 
• Demonstrated experience creating, reviewing, and maintaining detailed data mapping documents, transformation rules, interface specifications, and business process documentation. 
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and analyse complex application, integration, transaction, and data quality issues across multiple interconnected systems. 
• Strong working knowledge of Jira, including backlog management, user story creation, defect tracking, workflow administration, sprint support, reporting, and Agile delivery practices. 
• Highly self-driven and able to manage multiple competing priorities while undertaking hands-on technical activities in retail IT lab, test, pilot, and rollout, including integration testing, deployment support, store site visits, solution validation, and collaboration with operational teams.
