Systems Engineer Cloud

Role Description

This role is a Cloud / Systems engineer position providing high quality and timely support to ensure the availability, stability, and performance of Capital Markets systems in support of global enterprise clients.

• To support HA, secure and scalable applications and infrastructure on AWS cloud compute and storage platforms

• To build and deploy FNZ Capital Markets (CM) Linux & Database environments in an AWS environment.

• To support and maintain FNZ CM client applications running in an AWS environment.

• To work with PM’s and outline activities and estimates for environment builds.

Specific Role Responsibilities

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding of Kubernetes and Docker, and the AWS EKS variant.

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding of Helm and Kustomize.

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding of Terraform/Terragrunt in an AWS environment.

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding of AWS security and networking

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding and competency in administration of Linux variants, RHEL / OL predominantly.

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding and competency in administration of the PostgreSQL Database and AWS Aurora variant.

• Demonstrate a good level of understanding and competency in the administration of AWS resources.

• Demonstrate competency in scripting languages, as well as a good level of understanding and competency in at least Shell and Python.

• Consistently work to improve your knowledge and competency in the technical skills used by the team.

• Manage your time effectively to complete assigned project work within the agreed timeframes. Where timeframes will not be met, provide prompt notice to the manager of the project or direct report.

Experience Required

Essential

• Experience with the core AWS services (e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB, EBD, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM) to maintain an Amazon AWS based cloud solution

• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, Helm and Terraform

• Good knowledge of Red Hat / Oracle Linux systems administration

• Good knowledge in Postgres / Aurora

• Tertiary qualifications in IT or Engineering OR comparable industry certification

• Reasonable networking knowledge

• Demonstrated scripting ability i.e. Shell, Python

• Good communication skills

• Excellent problem-solving skills

• Able to work in a team environment

• Work A/H, shifts & on call according to roster (attractive allowances on offer)

• Relevant qualifications / certifications in AWS

• Able to work independently.

• Good documentation skills.
