Systems Engineer II

Position Overview

The Systems Engineer II performs systems engineering work of moderate to significant complexity with limited supervision. This position located onsite in Lebanon, NH, designs, develops, integrates, tests, and supports manufacturing equipment, automation systems, software applications, and electromechanical systems. Independently executes engineering assignments and contributes to the planning and implementation of technical projects. Analyzes product and process issues, develops and evaluates solutions, and applies engineering principles to improve system performance, reliability, maintainability, and manufacturability. Collaborates across functions and serves as a technical resource within assigned areas of responsibility.

Job Description

A seasoned, experienced professional with a full understanding of area of specialization; resolves a wide range of issues in creative ways. This job is the fully qualified, career-oriented, journey-level position.

JOB COMPLEXITY

Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions. Networks with senior internal and external personnel in own area of expertise.

SUPERVISION

Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new projects or assignments.

EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or an advanced degree with 3 years experience; or equivalent work experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Design of hardware and software control systems. Including oversight of assembly / debug / qualification / implementation.
• Provide support for existing software & hardware.
• Conceives and plans projects involving exploration of product and/or process problems, definition and selection of new concepts and approaches to the design or development of new or improved products and processes.
• Conducts independent technical investigations involving the application of the principles of electronics in the origination or modification of material, component or process specifications and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

• Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with 3 years of related experience; or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience designing, integrating, debugging, and supporting complex systems including hardware, software, motion control, automation, or related technologies.
• Experience developing software using C++, Visual Basic, or comparable programming languages and development environments.
• Ability to analyze system requirements, troubleshoot technical issues, and document solutions across multidisciplinary engineering projects.
• Demonstrated communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills in a cross-functional engineering environment.

DESIRED:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Experience supporting manufacturing equipment, automation systems, motion-control applications, or machine-control systems.
• Knowledge of inkjet printing systems or other precision manufacturing equipment.
• Familiarity with system architecture, controls integration, software version control, configuration management, and system validation practices.

• May potentially handle hazardous waste in accordance with the safe work practices defined in Hazardous

Communication and Hazardous Waste training programs. Initial training is required upon hiring status and

every 3 years thereafter. Employees handling hazardous waste will insure that waste containers in their

work areas are properly labeled and dated. Employees will ensure that waste containers are closed after

transferring waste to them. Report any incidents involving hazardous waste to supervisor.
