This is an exciting opportunity for a registered children's or learning disability nurse with a passion for patient safety, clinical governance and quality improvement. Working closely with the Lead Nurse - Clinical Governance & Quality, you will play a key role in embedding robust governance systems, driving learning from incidents, supporting education and development, and ensuring the highest standards of care across our services.

Reporting to the Lead Nurse - Clinical Governance & Quality, you will:
  • Lead and support incident reporting, investigations and organisational learning in line with the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF).
  • Analyse quality and safety data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide hands-on clinical teaching, coaching and support to staff, ensuring competence, confidence and safe clinical practice across services.
  • Line manage Practice Development Nurses and support the delivery of education, competency and development programmes.
  • Lead clinical audit activity and ensure learning is translated into meaningful improvements.
  • Support policy development, clinical governance processes and quality assurance systems.
  • Promote a positive culture of learning, reflection and continuous improvement.

About you

You’ll be an experienced Band 6 (or equivalent) Registered Nurse, with a background in children’s or learning disability nursing. You will bring:
  • Registration as a Children’s or Learning Disability Nurse, with degree-level education.
  • Experience of clinical governance, patient safety, risk management, audit and quality improvement.
  • Proven leadership and people management experience.
  • Strong communication skills, confidence in report-writing and ability to engage with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Capability to analyse data and turn insights into practical improvements.
  • Knowledge of national governance frameworks, including safeguarding, CQC standards and PSIRF.
Above all, you’ll bring a genuine commitment to supporting teams, driving excellence and championing family-centred care.

Desirable
  • A postgraduate qualification in leadership, education, clinical governance or patient safety.
  • Experience supporting regulatory inspections.
  • Quality improvement, risk management or education qualifications.
  • Experience leading training programmes across multiple sites.
