About the Position
We are looking for a Business Development & Sales Manager to expand our client base, develop existing accounts, and drive new business opportunities across our service portfolio.
This role combines technical understanding of pharmaceutical drug products with business development and sales. You will engage directly with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, understand their technical challenges, translate their needs into technical projects, and guide commercial opportunities from initial contact through proposal and project award.
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background in drug product (DP) manufacturing or development who understands the pharmaceutical environment and can build credible relationships with technical, regulatory and quality teams. Experience in visual inspection is a strong advantage but is not required.
Location: Basel, Switzerland (Rosental area)
Start date: As soon as possible

Tasks
- Develop new clients: Identify pharmaceutical, biotech, and CDMO companies that could benefit from our services and proactively establish contact with relevant technical and business stakeholders.
- Lead client discussions: Understand clients’ technical challenges, upcoming projects, timelines, and requirements, and present suitable Clear Solutions Laboratories capabilities.
- Turn client needs into projects: Gather the required technical information, define potential project scope, and coordinate with internal specialists to develop appropriate solutions.
- Prepare proposals and quotations: Prepare commercial proposals, including scope of work, deliverables, assumptions, timelines, pricing, and commercial terms, together with technical and operational colleagues.
- Negotiate and close contracts: Discuss scope, pricing, timelines, and commercial conditions and drive opportunities toward confirmed projects and purchase orders.
- Develop client relationships and key accounts: Build long-term relationships with existing and prospective clients and identify repeat-business and cross-selling opportunities.
- Manage the sales pipeline and CRM: Maintain accurate CRM data, track opportunities and next actions, and support sales forecasting and revenue planning.
- Develop sales and marketing materials: Work with technical experts to create and maintain capability presentations, service descriptions, case studies, conference materials, website content, and other tools that support client acquisition and sales discussions.
- Represent the company externally: Attend client meetings, conferences, and industry events to generate leads, strengthen relationships, and identify new market opportunities.
Requirements
Must have:
- Degree in pharmaceutical sciences, chemistry, biotechnology, engineering, life sciences, or a related field
- Several years of technical experience in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly in parenteral drug product manufacturing and/or development.
- Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with pharmaceutical Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing, MSAT, and Development teams.
- Excellent written and spoken English.
Highly Desireable:
- Experience with visual inspection and particle control is an advantage.
- Ability to understand technical challenges and translate them into practical project opportunities.
- Experience in business development, sales, account management, or another client-facing role is an advantage.
- Proactive, commercially minded, and comfortable taking ownership of opportunities from initial contact through project award.
