Job Description:

Network Engineer

Enterprise Network Service provides essential set of network connectivity and functional services to the Sun Life Financial global community in support of the digital enterprise and business operations worldwide. The Network Solution Design Engineering Team is accountable for developing and maintaining strategy and roadmaps for network technology domains as well as designing, engineering, communicating, and delivering complex and innovative end-to-end solutions, enabling Sun Life Financial business operations globally.

What you will do

• Provide technical leadership or subject matter expertise within projects to deliver secure suitable technical solutions, compliant with governance, policies, standards, and procedures to realize the projects’ objective, successful implementation, and its operationalization.
• Deliver both high-level and detailed-level designs, in accordance to best practices, with security, fault resiliency, tolerance, sizing and agility considerations, inclusive of just in time and solution release documentation.
• Contribute to ongoing operations, maintenance, and evolution of the network infrastructure and its services on-premises/in-cloud, through POC, LCM, proactive health and performance analysis, as well as degradation and incident remediation.
• Advance enabling technologies for Automation, Data & Analytics, DevOps, API, and Digital Assets, within Network Services’ Infrastructure and Functional Engineering be it on-premises or in-cloud.
• Create & manage business requirements, business processes and operational standards and procedures.
• Development of comprehensive Engineering and Architecture documentations

What you will need to succeed

• 10 + years of progressive network and information technology design and support experience with the application of network design lifecycle and best practice methodologies.
• Industry, Professional, or Vendor Certifications an advantage relative to Security, Cloud, AWS, Cisco, Process, Governance (e.g. CCIE, CISSP, TOGAF, ITIL, AWS, AZURE, Microsoft, VMWARE)
• OSPF, BGP(iBGP/eBGP), VxLAN, PfR (Performance Routing), QoS, MPLS, DMVPN, IPSec
• Cisco IOS, IOS-XR, NX-OS, ASA, NSX/ESX
• Nexus 9k/7k/5k, Catalyst 6500/4500 Series, ASR/ISR routers
• SPAN/ERSPAN/Cisco Tunneling Technologies/Traffic Aggregation
• Proficiency Microsoft Visio, Power Point
• Design Documentation

Technical Skills:

• Network Infrastructure on-premises and cloud convergence:
  • Data Centre, LAN/Wireless/WAN/VPN/SDx and Cloud Connectivity, Firewall, Load Balancing
  • AWS/Azure/NFV/Virtualization/Subscribed and Colo-services
  • Familiarity with WAN Connectivity services from AT&T, Verizon, Zayo, and other major Telco
  • Network routing & switching protocols, segmentation, data aggregation, application delivery and perimeter security.
  • Coding, API, Analytics, Automation, Service and Functionality Performance monitoring and management.
• Operating Systems and IOS:
  • Cisco: IOS, NX-OS, ASA; Aruba: Wireless OS, Clearpass, Airwave/Central; Gigamon, Bluecat, Checkpoint, F5
  • Microsoft; Windows Servers 2012/2016/2019, UNIX/Linux/CentOS, and other derivatives.
• Applications and Tools Suite:
  • Microsoft: Visio, Office, Project; Linux/Unix and derivatives
  • Automation and Orchestration tools: Ansible, Cisco NSO, Cloud Formation, Terraform
  • Splunk, ScienceLogic, LiveAction/NX, Algosec, TGW Network Manager, ServiceNow, Agile tools: Jira, Git, Bitbucket, Scrum
• Programming Coding and Integration:
  • API (RESTFul/HTML/SOAP), Python, YANG, NETCONF, RESTCONF
