Telecom Network Technician

Howard County Medical Center in Columbia, MD is hiring for a Telecom Network Technician.

Schedule:

• Monday- Friday
• 8:00am-4:30pm

Pay Rate:

• $30 per hour

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and resolve moderate telecommunications, network, and device issues
• Install, replace, and maintain telecom hardware, software, cabling, and related equipment
• Support the administration and maintenance of telecommunications systems
• Configure and verify access switches and basic network settings
• Install and maintain cabling, data jacks, and device connections
• Troubleshoot local network outages, device failures, and client VPN connectivity issues
• Perform approved changes in alignment with change management processes
• Coordinate cabling installations with Facilities and external vendors
• Analyze voice and data communication needs and document requirements
• Communicate effectively with customers to understand and support their telecom needs
• Participate in technical discussions and support network infrastructure improvements
• Maintain working knowledge of voice systems, analog services, and Avaya Communication Manager/System Manager

Qualifications

• Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required
• 2+ years of experience supporting telecom networks
• 2+ years of experience troubleshooting telecommunications issues and handling hardware, software, and cabling installs/replacements
• Solid understanding of telecommunications concepts and principles
• Experience with network and voice troubleshooting methodologies
• Ability to explain key differences between voice features and equipment in a clear, professional manner
• Knowledge of analog services, including on-premise systems and carrier-provided POTS
• Experience with Avaya Communication Manager and Avaya System Manager
