PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

  • The Trainer is responsible for delivering high-quality theoretical and practical training in their designated trade discipline.
  • This role ensures students acquire the technical skills, safety knowledge, and industry competencies required to meet national qualification standards and industry expectations.

JOB REQUIREMENTS & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Training Delivery

  • Deliver classroom-based theory and practical workshop training in accordance with approved curriculum and competency standards.
  • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, and practical demonstrations.
  • Use modern teaching methodologies and technology to enhance learning outcomes.
  • Ensuring training aligns with industry standards and regulatory requirements.

Student Assessment & Support

  • Conduct assessments (theory and practical) in line with competency-based training standards.
  • Mark and grade assessments accurately and provide constructive feedback.
  • Identify students requiring additional support and provide remedial training where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate training and attendance records.

Curriculum & Compliance

  • Assist in reviewing and updating training materials to ensure relevance to industry developments.
  • Ensure compliance with national education and training authorities and accreditation requirements.
  • Maintain documentation for audits and quality assurance processes.

Safety Management

  • Ensure workshop and training areas comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) standards.
  • Enforce safe work practices and proper use of tools and equipment.
  • Report hazards, incidents, or damaged equipment immediately.
  • Maintain inventory of training materials and tools.

Industry & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Maintain strong relationships with industry partners and employers.
  • Support student workplace attachments, apprenticeships, or on-the-job training placements.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE

  • Teaching/Training qualification (Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110/TAE40116/TAE40122) or equivalent) is Essential.
  • Minimum 3–5 years industry experience in the trade
  • Teaching/Training qualification (e.g., Certificate IV in Training & Assessment or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of workplace safety standards
  • Experience in vocational education and training (TVET) environment
  • Assessor accreditation Industry licenses (where applicable)
