Transportation Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Negotiate rates with carriers
• Manage shipments by building loads and establishing a shipping plan to ensure customers’ needs are met or exceeded
• Work closely with other departments to ensure accurate and timely processing of shipments and/or receipts
• Maintain open communication and good relationships with carriers, customers and/or suppliers
• Track shipments from release of material to transportation to delivery to the customer
• Trouble shooting
• Freight invoice approval
• Meeting or exceeding department key measurements

Qualifications

• Safety Oriented
• Effective written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented and well organized
• Customer service passion and attitude
• Willing to go the “extra mile” for service and problem resolution
• Able to work with people from all organizational levels/backgrounds
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and PC applications

Preferred:

• BS degree in Transportation Management or 5 to 7 years in transportation or the steel industry
