UK - Interim Tax Reporting Consultant

Role Summary:

The Interim Tax Reporting Consultant will play a key role in the Group year‑end tax reporting process. The role focuses on consolidating tax data across the Group, preparing and reviewing tax reporting adjustments, and supporting accurate and timely tax disclosures under IFRS. The position requires strong technical tax accounting expertise, particularly in complex areas such as uncertain tax positions, discontinued operations and intangibles, together with hands‑on experience of Group consolidation.

Contract: FTC (6-8 months)

Location: London, UK (Hybrid)

Salary: Circa £90-£100k DOE

Key Responsibilities

Group Tax Reporting & Consolidation

Support the consolidation of Group tax reporting information for year‑end reporting cycle.

• Prepare and review Group‑level tax adjustments arising from consolidation activities, including elimination and true‑up entries.
• Ensure consistency and accuracy of tax numbers reported by operating companies and regions.

Technical Tax Accounting

Prepare tax accounting for complex areas including:

• Uncertain tax positions
• Discontinued operations
• Intangible assets and business combinations
• Other significant temporary and permanent differences
• Support the calculation and review of current tax, deferred tax, and effective tax rate (ETR) reconciliations under IFRS.

Group Reporting & Disclosures

Support the preparation of tax journals and disclosures for statutory accounts for both group and entity accounts.

• Ensure compliance with IFRS requirements and Group accounting policies.
• Assist with drafting and reviewing tax notes for annual and interim financial statements.

Stakeholder Management

• Act as a key point of contact for finance teams across the Group on tax reporting matters.
• Liaise with external auditors and advisors during the year‑end audit process.
• Work closely with Group Finance, Group Accounting, and local finance teams to resolve reporting issues efficiently.

Process Improvement

• Support continuous improvement of Group tax reporting processes, templates, and controls.
• Contribute to documentation of tax reporting processes and controls to support audit and governance requirements.

Other projects

• If time allows the candidate may be asked to support other compliance activities such as UK corporate tax compliance, transfer pricing and other projects.

Candidate Requirements

Technical Experience

• Strong background in tax reporting at Group level, including tax consolidation.
• Experience working in a complex international company environment (highly desirable).
• Proven experience dealing with complex tax accounting areas such as uncertain tax positions, business combinations and disposals and intangibles.
• Good working knowledge of IFRS tax accounting principles (IAS 12).

Skills & Competencies

• Qualified accountant with in-house tax experience
• Working knowledge of Hyperion and Unit 4 would be advantageous.
• Highly competent Excel user, with experience handling large and complex data sets.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to work to tight reporting deadlines in a fast‑paced year‑end environment.
• Clear communicator, able to explain technical tax issues to non‑tax stakeholders.
