Ultralytics ML Engineer - YOLO R&D (Full-time, Onsite in Shenzhen)

What You'll Do

As a full-time ML Engineer at our new Shenzhen R&D office, you will directly contribute to the research and development of next-generation YOLO and other advanced computer vision models. Your responsibilities include:

• Designing and experimentally validating novel model architectures, loss functions, activation functions, and optimization techniques.
• Implementing, training, and rigorously evaluating machine learning models to push state-of-the-art benchmarks.
• Publishing reproducible research and actively contributing improvements back to key open-source frameworks.
• Collaborating closely with our international ML team to align research priorities and accelerate innovation.
• Maintaining and growing Ultralytics' presence and leadership within the broader ML and computer vision research community.
• Engaging with our open-source user base through GitHub Discussions, GitHub Issues, and Pull Requests.

Your profile

Required Skills and Experience

• 5+ years of demonstrable ML experience with Python and PyTorch.
• Extensive history of meaningful GitHub contributions (ideally hundreds or thousands per year) to critical open-source frameworks and models.
• Published peer-reviewed research and citations in reputable ML and computer vision conferences or journals.
• Proven ability to design, execute, and clearly document rigorous ML experiments with compelling results.
• Deep theoretical and practical expertise in model architecture design, optimization methods, loss functions, and augmentation and training strategies.
• Strong track record of achieving state-of-the-art results in benchmark datasets, particularly in object detection and segmentation.
• Experience with Docker, PyPI, and Conda environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD and automated testing workflows such as GitHub Actions.
• Excellent communication skills, especially in clearly articulating complex technical ideas and experimental results.
