Overview

Group 1 Toyota Bowie is part of fast growing Group 1 Automotive, a leader in automotive retail, and we are looking for a Used Vehicle Acquisition Specialist to our team. The Used Vehicle Acquisition Specialist role is to help grow our pre-owned vehicle inventory by engaging with customers already visiting our dealership for service.

In this role, you will connect with service customers through follow-up calls and in-person conversations to identify potential opportunities for customers who may be interested in selling or trading their current vehicle. You will focus on creating interest, building rapport, and providing a positive customer experience. This is not a traditional vehicle sales position. Once a customer expresses interest in purchasing or trading into another vehicle, you will introduce and transition the customer to a member of our Sales team to continue the process.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customers visiting the Service Department to identify potential trade-in and vehicle acquisition opportunities

  • Make outbound follow-up calls to current and previous service customers

  • Build rapport with customers and create interest in having their vehicle evaluated for purchase or trade

  • Schedule vehicle appraisal and acquisition appointments

  • Maintain consistent and professional follow-up with prospective customers

  • Accurately document customer interactions, appointments, and follow-up activity

  • Partner closely with the Sales and Used Vehicle teams to ensure a smooth customer handoff

  • Deliver a friendly, professional, and low-pressure customer experience

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
  • Previous automotive sales, customer service, hospitality, or presentation experience is preferred.
  • Vehicle appraisal experience is helpful but not required; training will be provided.
  • Comfortable using dealership software, customer-management systems, tablets, and smartphones.
  • Comfortable discussing vehicle values and responding to customer objections.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to confidently engage with customers.

Compensation: The compensation for this position is hourly plus commission. The hourly rate expected for this position is $16.00 - $18.00. Earnings from commissions may vary based on several factors, including individual performance and market conditions.
