A busy and successful Veterinary Practice in Lake Villa is in search of an enthusiastic and energetic Veterinary Assistant to join the team. If you have the following qualifications apply today!

Primary Responsibilities

Training is available for candidates who possess exemplary communication skills and are passionate about learning to help care for pets!

Veterinary Assistants play a vital role in supporting the Veterinarians and other staff Members who provide excellent patient care. After your training is complete, your primary responsibilities will be:

• Expertly draw blood
• Place IV catheters
• Administer IV and subcutaneous injections
• Deliver excellent patient nursing care
• Manage Surgical prep, surgical, and post-surgical monitoring
• Provide superior client service, educating pet parents with a tailored approach
• Assist with laboratory procedures
• Some kennel duties as needed
• Complete special projects assigned by our Doctor

Qualifications

• At least 1-year of hands-on experience previously working as a Veterinary Assistant strongly preferred
• The desire to perform a multitude of veterinary Assistant tasks including blood draws, catheter placement, obtaining urine/stool samples, surgical preparation and assistance, and MORE!
• Surgical experience is a plus as we regularly perform routine soft tissue surgery and dental cleanings.
• A learning mindset as it is never too late to learn new skills or to improve the ones you already have
• Attention to detail and a high degree of organization
• A positive, friendly demeanor is a MUST!

Hours & Availability

This is a full time opening! Your availability should align with our hours of operation as follows:

• Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 6:00pm
• Saturday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
• Sunday: CLOSED
• Rotating Saturdays required

Compensation

We are searching for a great candidate and offer competitive pay accordingly, the starting hourly range for this position is $16 to $20 per hour, and is dependent upon experience. Other amazing benefits include:
