Warehouse Assistant

Founded eighty years ago, we are a premier supplier of sheet metal and mechanical products, systems, and services. An important position in this organization is the Warehouse Assistant. This position is primarily responsible for supporting our Tool Room and Shipping Operations by preparing orders for the field, unloading material for fabrication or delivery, and maintaining a neat and organized warehouse and shipping yard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide support to Tool Room for preparing orders for construction teams
• Assist in checking tools in and out using ToolWatch tracking software
• Help keep tool warehouse and storage sheds tidy and well organized
• Act as customer service liaison for will-call orders
• Unload raw materials from delivery trucks
• Place material in designated areas for manufacturing and notify production staff of the arrival of materials.
• Sort manufactured material into designated areas by job.
• Keep warehouse and yard clean and organized.
• Assist other shipping personnel as needed with loading outbound deliveries.
• Additional general maintenance duties as time allows to maintain a clean and professional work environment.

Qualifications

• Strong desire to operate as part of a team working towards a common goal.
• Familiarity with the use of hand tools needed for general construction.
• Ability to operate forklifts.
• General familiarity and comfort with computer applications (MS Excel and Outlook)
• Ability to communicate effectively with shop and field personnel
• Ability and commitment to follow all applicable safety requirements.
• Must be able to lift 35 lb on a daily basis.
• Must be able to spend 90% of the work day standing or walking.
• Ability to work independently under general supervision.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong, team-oriented interpersonal skills

Work Hours

This position’s normal work hours are approximately 7:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday through Friday, working approximately 40 hours per week.

Compensation:

• $22 to $24 / hour DOE.
