About this role
Position Summary:
The Welder will utilize various welding processes to set up welders and weld vertically and horizontally with satisfactory results using aluminum and/or steel at standard rates.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
Accountabilities:
- Operate and set up MIG (GMAW) and TIG (GTAW) welding equipment to join and fabricate steel and aluminum components.
- Perform accurate weld inspection, identify nonconforming parts, ensure welds meet Dee Zee and customer weld acceptance criteria and rework if applicable.
- Support Dee Zee's environmental policies with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste while acting on environment performance results and findings.
- Check and adjust machine settings to ensure that the part is fabricated correctly according to specifications.
- Ensure welder is in proper working condition.
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards.
- Fabricate items as instructed by drawings and work instructions.
- Follow First Off Procedure (specification, place jig, check dimensions and check first product).
- Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules and regulations and take proper care of all equipment and facilities.
- Must achieve trainee level BOM standard cycle times while maintaining quality parts in all welding processes.
